INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH COLLEGE OF THEATRE ARTS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

Dear theatre experts!

It is our pleasure to inform you that International Festival of Children's Theatres Subotica (Serbia), in co-operation with the Theatre Museum of Vojvodina from Novi Sad (Serbia), is organizing an INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH COLLEGE OF THEATRE ARTS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE conference for the thirteenth time.

29th INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF CHILDREN’S THEATRES – SUBOTICA

(18th – 23rd September 2022.)

13th RESEARCH FORUM OF THEATER FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH

INTERCULTURALITY IN THEATER FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Interculturality as a model for perceiving possibilities within diversity is especially important for drama art and even more especially for theatre art for children and youth, and in many ways contributes to the quality development of the community as a whole.

Getting to know different cultures, arts, religions, languages and other types of social activities enables the young population to progress faster and get to know some new possibilities. As the audience, children are especially happy to accept and adopt new, different values, and therefore this type of work in theater for children and youth provides quality time spent in theater and new experiences helpful in understanding everyday challenges.

13. Forum for research of theatrical art for children and youth at the 29th International Festival of Theater for Children in Subotica pays special attention to the topic of interculturality and its possibilities in community development. Considering that the presence of different cultures is very common in children's theater performances - from the choice of topics and writers to the choice of directors and actors - children also directly participate in these performances with their spontaneous reactions. Also, plays are often performed at festivals and outside the native language area, so children encounter topics and languages that are not part of their environment, but also as an audience directly participate, understand and accept diversity. Therefore, it is especially important to pay attention to all aspects of the impact and effect of the interculturality phenomenon on the development of theater for children and youth, on the development of children as an audience, and indirectly on the development of the community as a whole.

Possible forum themes and frameworks:

Interculturality and theater for children and youth

Interculturality and inculturality in theater for children and youth

Theater for children and youth and community development

Interculturality and community challenges

Interculturality and education

Interculturality and drama in education

Interculturality and family

Theater for children and youth and family challenges

Interculturality and growing up

Interculturality and mobility

Interculturality and literature

Interculturality and methodology

The upcoming 13th Forum for Research in Theater Arts for Children and Youth in Subotica, which is planned to gather participants from more than 15 countries, can become a forum where the theme of interculturalism in theater for children and youth might contribute to the development of theater and community as a whole.
