We know who will be the patron of the Nová dráma/New Drama 2024 Festival
The Nová dráma/New Drama 2024 Festival will take place in Bratislava from 13 May to 18 May 2024. It is a competitive showcase of the best productions of contemporary Slovak and world drama presented by professional theaters in Slovakia during the ongoing and/or previous theater seasons.
As customary, the festival’s patron is a world-renowned creator. This is also true of this year’s patron who is the 1986 Nobel laureate in Literature.
"At the venerable age of 89, one of the most prominent African playwrights, Nigerian writer Wole Soyinka, accepted the invitation to take over the patronage of the jubilee edition of Nová dráma/New Drama festival. Festival visitors can also look forward to his masterclass," says Vladislava Fekete, the festival director.
The festival’s dramaturgical board, consisting of theaterologists of the Theater Institute Marek Godovič, Dária Fojtíková Fehérová, and Diana Pavlačková, has been attending premieres all over Slovakia since last year and is currently arranging the competitive program. The selection of productions will be announced at the beginning of February.
