Collected documents and funds

Comprehensive documentation as the primary responsibility of the Theatre Institute falls under the remit of the Department of Theatre Documentation, Informatics and Digitalisation. The Department holds collected documents and funds, and includes Theatre Institute Museum and Theatre Institute Library. These specialist units gather and preserve the collections and funds, document and further work with them, to ultimately make them available to specialist and lay public. Acquisitions focus on material related to the past and present of theatre art and culture in Slovakia, and on documents related to the work of Slovak theatre-makers internationally. The material is methodically sorted and arranged into collections, the administration of which follows internal rules on specialist administration of funds and collections at the Theatre Institute. Public access to the collections is governed by The Research, Borrowing and Study Code of Business of the Theatre Institute. All collections and funds are available to public in the Study Room at the Theatre Institute for research in situ.

Current priorities of the Theatre Institute include complete digitalisation of collections and funds, and their publication in online catalogue at etheatre.sk. Its accessible and user-friendly interface that enables researchers search information and documents about Slovak theatre.
