The Dramaturgy Board of the Nová dráma/New Drama Festival 2027 Visits Productions
The Dramaturgy Board of the Nová dráma/New Drama 2027 festival has been formed. Since the beginning of September, the board has been visiting and assessing productions by Slovak theatres that meet the festival’s criteria.
The Dramaturgy Board will focus on productions that premiered between 1 February 2026 and 31 January 2027. Based on its assessment, the programme of the Nová dráma/New Drama 2027 festival will subsequently be compiled.
The selection of productions will continue until January 2027, and the work of the Dramaturgy Board will culminate in May during the festival with a public discussion. The board members will gradually attend productions presented during the monitored period and assess them for artistic quality and potential inclusion in the Nová dráma/New Drama 2027 festival.
The board consists of three experts in theatre criticism, theatre studies, and cultural journalism:
Adam Nagy
In 2026, Adam Nagy completed his doctoral studies at the Institute of Theatre and Film Studies of the Art Research Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. In his dissertation, he examined contemporary Slovak female directors working on the independent scene.
He has regularly participated in student platforms at Slovak and Czech festivals, including Nová dráma, Dotyky a spojenia and the Czech Dance Platform, workshops for young critics (Divadelná Nitra), and festival editorial teams (Setkání/Encounter, Istropolitana, Zlomvaz).
He publishes in theatre periodicals kød – konkrétne o divadle, Tanec, MLOKi and Monitoring divadiel na Slovensku, as well as in the Hungarian newspaper Napunk, where he focuses on the work of Hungarian-language theatres in Slovakia. Since the 2021/2022 season, he has been a member of the Tanečná sezóna project, in which he has followed and reviewed the Slovak contemporary dance scene.
Lucia Galdíková
Lucia Galdíková studied Translation and Interpreting (English and German) at Comenius University and Theatre Arts Theory and Criticism at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
She worked at the Theatre Institute and later in the foreign news desk of the TASR news agency. She currently works at the Slovak Literary Centre as coordinator for promoting Slovak literature in German-speaking countries.
She focuses on theatre and literary criticism. She regularly contributes to kød – konkrétne o divadle, Monitoring divadiel na Slovensku, SME, MLOKi and Knižná revue.
Soňa Jánošová
Soňa Jánošová completed a master’s degree at the Department of Theatre Studies of the Faculty of Theatre at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Education at the Faculty of Education of Comenius University.
She currently works as a reporter for Denník N, having previously worked for the daily SME. As a journalist, she focuses primarily on social, societal and cultural topics.
As a theatre critic, she has contributed to the dailies Pravda and SME and to the magazines MLOKi and kød – konkrétne o divadle. She has long reflected on contemporary theatre and followed the cultural and political situation.
