The Theatre Research Centre
The Theatre Research Centre’s objective is to become a platform for scientific activity and research of Slovak and foreign theatre scientists in the area of theatre history and theory. It focuses on history of Slovak theatre and drama, it names positions of Slovak theatre and drama in central-European context, it terminologically specifies theatrical facts, it monitors historical research and creates modern methods of its analytical processing. The aim of the project is a contribution to research and preservation of cultural heritage and its spreading among the professional as well as broader public.
One of the most important roles of the project is a revitalization and use of the documentation and archives of the Theatre Institute and the co-operation with external scientific institutions and libraries in Slovakia and abroad. Moreover, the project also provides a co-operation between the internal employees and external professionals, which creates conditions for a quality long-term and extensive scientific co-operation.
The Theatre Research Centre creates space for research of history and theory of Slovak and Central-European theatre.
The Bratislava Theatre Institute / the Theatre Research Centre is a part of the FIRT / IFTR international organization - the International Federation of Theatre Research.
