The Theatre Architecture in Central Europe – Development, Influences, Present State and Possibilities of Further Development project was based on a many-year co-operation of theatre institutes and museums of Central-European countries. The initiator and main organizer of the project is the Prague Theatre Institute (the Czech Republic). The project is to be co-operated by: The Prague National Theatre (the Czech Republic), the Budapest Theatre Institute and Museum - Országos Színháztörténeti Múzeum és Intézet (Hungary), the Z. Raszewski Theatre Institute in Warsaw - Instytut Teatralny im. Zbigniewa Raszewskiego Warszawa (Poland) and the Slovenian Theatre Museum Ljubljana - Slovenski gledališki muzej (Slovenia).

Theatre Architecture in Central Europe

The Theatre Architecture in Central Europe – Development, Influences, Present State and Possibilities of Further Development project was based on a many-year co-operation of theatre institutes and museums of Central-European countries. The initiator and main organizer of the project is the Prague Theatre Institute (the Czech Republic). The project is to be co-operated by: The Prague National Theatre (the Czech Republic), the Budapest Theatre Institute and Museum - Országos Színháztörténeti Múzeum és Intézet (Hungary), the Z. Raszewski Theatre Institute in Warsaw - Instytut Teatralny im. Zbigniewa Raszewskiego Warszawa (Poland) and the Slovenian Theatre Museum Ljubljana - Slovenski gledališki muzej (Slovenia).

The project will cover the overall knowledge about historical and modern theatre buildings, mutual connections, relations and specifics of the theatre architecture area. The priority of the project will be a creation of a complete interactive database – electronic archives of theatre buildings with a complete factographic and photographic documentation. The four-year-long project plans to issue a presentation specialized publication and multimedia DVD. There will also be exhibitions, workshops and scientific seminars.

The main objective of the project is to contribute to the preservation and presentation of the common European cultural heritage in the theatre architecture area.
