Festival of contemporary Slovak and world drama Nová drama / New Drama Festival was established in 2005 as an annual presentation of best contemporary Slovak and world drama productions by Slovak theatre makers. Board of experts (comprising of theatre critics and journalists) is responsible for selection of Festival programme. Each year the festival is visited by more than 30 foreign guests as it offers an overview of contemporary Slovak theatre, interesting insight on Slovak directors and playwrights, wide range of performances from different regions of Slovakia.

The Nová dráma/New Drama Festival is the only festival of its kind in Slovakia. The 4th year of the festival is to take place from May 9 - 14, 2008 in Bratislava on several theatre stages. It is prepared by the Bratislava Theatre Institute in co-operation with the Slovak National Theatre, Contemporary Dance Association and Astorka Korzo ´90 Theatre.

The aim of the festival is to acquaint the audience with the best new drama productions premiered in the last year. The festival brings also an eventful accompanying programme designed for broader public as well as a working programme for professionals. There will be another final of the annual Dráma 2007 competition – the stage readings of the final texts named The Triathlon. For the first time it will introduce the stage readings of the Theatre Festival projects – New Writing and Dramatically Young. Every year the special programme section introduces to the home audience works of contemporary drama of other countries. This year it is Focus Russia, dedicated to Russian drama; the festival will introduce works of five renowned Russian dramatists.
