The kød Journal
The kød – konkrétne o divadle journal is the only theatrical journal of its kind in Slovakia. It is issued by the Bratislava Theatre Institute from March 2007.
Primarily, the journal filled the gap of the absence of theatre critique and it is a platform for creators views. In its traditional and untraditional sections it presents the newest productions through reviews, critical articles, essays and interviews with creators. The authors of the texts are renowned Slovak theatre theoreticians and creators as well as contributors from the Czech Republic and other European countries. In the kød the readers may find profiles of creators, information on foreign theatrical scene, commentaries and observations regarding the issue of cultural policy, interesting articles about theatre history and theory, excerpts and texts of theatre plays and dramatizations presented at theatres in Slovakia. The DEKODÉR insert informs about current offers of grants, workshops, auditions and competitions, educational events, conferences, seminars, theatre festivals and exhibitions about theatre in Slovakia and abroad. Moreover, the journal provides space for the presentation of activities and projects of the Theatre Institute and all professional theatres in Slovakia. The author of its visual, logo and lay out is graphic designer and VŠMU teacher Róbert Paršo.
There are 10 issues published annually in a monthly circulation of 800 pieces, and they are available in theatres, bookshops, literary cafés and news agencies throughout Slovakia.
