Nová dráma / New Drama Festival
The countrywide festival of productions of contemporary Slovak and world’s drama, Nová drama / New Drama was founded in 2005 as an annual competition showcase of the best productions of contemporary drama executed in the latest year in theatres in Slovakia.
It presents, supports and promotes contemporary original theatre work and its presenting in Slovakia. The programme of the festival consists of the main programme (8 – 10 productions), accompanying programme (staged readings, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, discussions) and the special section called Focus which presents contemporary drama of one European country. The festival is a competition; the jury announces Grand Prix Nová drama prize, the Bratislava Audience Prize and the Student Jury Prize. During its existence the festival has become one the most waited-for theatre festivals in Slovakia. At the same time, it is the only festival of its kind in Slovakia.
