A Brief Guide to Slovak Contemporary Dance

The Theatre Institute’s active participation in the presentation of Slovak contemporary dance at the international dance fair “The Internationale Tanzmesse nrw” in Düsseldorf, Germany aims to maximize the potential of the event. In collaboration with civic associations, the individual artists, the contemporary dance platform PlaST and the Centre for Research of the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, the Theatre Institute prepared promotion material charting original Slovak productions in the area of contemporary dance, as well as dance festivals and civic associations that are active in the field of contemporary dance.

The Theatre Institute drew on its international cooperation with partners from the Art Institute (the Theatre Institute in Prague) and from the Prague Dance festival. For promotion, it will use the shared space of the Czech and Slovak Promotion stand – the Czech and Slovak Corner.

Especially for the Tanzmesse event, an online catalogue titled A Brief Guide to Slovak Contemporary Dance has been created. Through the catalogue, ten representative Slovak dance productions will introduce themselves at the fair – ANIMALINSIDE (Jaro Viňarský), As It Is (Milan Kozánek), Everywhen (Soňa Ferienčíková, Mária Júdová, Alexandra Timpau), Mainly Love (Tomáš Danielis), MIMO (Radoslav Piovarči), Solo 2016 (Milan Tomášik), Four Heads (Andrej Petrovič), WATCH NOW (Lucia Holinová), WOW! (Stanislava Vlčeková, Jozef Vlk), and Mirroring (Jana Tereková).

The online catalogue will be presented at the fair by means of promotional print cards which will present not only the ten profile dance productions, but also Slovak dance festivals focusing on contemporary dance. Activities of the Theatre Institute, especially as far as contemporary dance is concerned, will also be promoted.
